RIX have many years experience stabilising weak soil layers on freshly cut or pre-existing excavation by installing soil nails.
![]() Soil nails are typically rigid bars or strand cable, encased in plastic sheath. The soil nails are installed into a predrilled hole which penetrates the loose layer and into stable ground beneath. The bolts are typically secured into the stable ground beneath the fault using a cement grout.
![]() Soil nailing is commonly used in road corridors and in rail cuttings ensure the long term integrity of the slope.
