Drain/Culvert Lining

RIX has completed 100s of kilometers of open drains on projects including the Sydney Desalination plant, QCLNG project Gladstone, Blackbutt range QLD and culverts at Coalconnect at Collinsville, and various NSW RMS projects. RIX’s wealth of experience enables our management teams to offer design advice, planning and complete shotcrete construction solutions. Shotcrete is an ideal construction method for dish drains, culvert linings and water channels

Above: QCLNG Project – Gladstone. RIX completed 50,000m2 of lines drains for THIESS during the harsh tropical weather conditions of 2012.

Left: An almost century old convict-constructed water channel collapsed in various areas. RIX was contracted to repair the various areas of this heritage-listed structure while limiting the impact of the original‘s intact and structurally-sound sections. The lower original concrete marries into RIX’s upper shotcrete facing, offering a homogenous blend of old and new.

Right: Two layers of N24 and N16 reinforcing bar. RIX was contracted by LEIGHTON/Coalconnect Alliance to guarantee an additional 100-year lifespan to existing corrugated steel culverts below an existing coal rail line at Collinsville QLD. Our in-house steel fixing crews installed reinforcement and shotcrete was applied up to 500mm thick with float finish to the floors and walls and GUN finish overhead to the ceiling. The main culvert was 6.5m in diameter with the added challenge of working at height. All works were completed safely, within program, below original design budget and with a high level of quality.
